Frequently asked questions
Everything about how FitGear Verdict tests and scores fitness and training tools.
How do you score fitness gear?
We compare build, price, and warranty against the alternatives, and weigh what long-term owners report. Each product is then rated 1 to 5 on ease of use, features, value for money, and support. The overall score is the average of those four on a 10-point scale.
Do you personally train with every product you review?
No, and we will not pretend otherwise. Verdicts come from build and spec comparisons, pricing, warranty terms, and what owners report after months of use - not from a single unboxing.
Are your verdicts independent, or do brands pay for better scores?
Independent. Commissions keep the site running and nothing else. No brand sees a verdict before it publishes, and the low scores on this site stay low.
What do the four score pillars mean?
Ease of use covers setup, storage, and whether it is still convenient a month in. Features covers build quality and whether it suits the training you actually do. Value compares the price to the cheaper option on the same shelf. Support means warranty, spare parts, and what happens when something breaks.
How often are reviews updated?
We go back to a review when a brand releases a new version or changes the build, because gear reviews age badly and last year's model is not what you would be buying.
Do you earn money from the links on this site?
Yes. Some links are affiliate links that may pay us a commission at no extra cost to you. The disclosure page has the details.
Can I suggest gear for you to review?
Yes - the contact page reaches us directly, and reader requests often decide what we review next.
Can I leave my own review or comment?
Yes. Every review, comparison, and guide has a discussion section at the bottom, and a year of someone else's real use beats any spec sheet.
