FitGear Verdict is simple: we look past the marketing photos - build, price, warranty, and what owners report months in - before we write a word. No hype, no paid rankings.
When the $30 option beats the $300 one, we say so. When something is worth the splurge, we say that too.
How we review
Nothing gets scored off a marketing photo. We compare build, price, and warranty against the cheaper option on the same shelf, weigh what long-term owners report, and then rate each product 1 to 5 on ease of use, features, value for money, and support. The overall score is the average of those four on a 10-point scale - above 9.0 is outstanding, 8.5 and up is excellent, and gear that disappoints gets the number it earned.
What this method does not include
The FAQ on this page answers the personal-training question with a plain no, and nothing in this section walks that back. Verdicts come from build and spec comparisons against the cheaper option on the same shelf, warranty terms, the return window, and what owners report after months of use. Where a brand publishes no weight limit or no material, the page says it is not published rather than borrowing a figure from a retailer.
How something gets on the list
Gear gets covered because people are deciding between it and one other thing, not because a brand runs a good affiliate programme. Products with no programme at all sit in these rankings, some of them near the top. Ranking by commission would make every score on this site meaningless.
Our independence
Some links here are affiliate links, and a purchase through one may pay us a commission. That is what funds the hours of comparison behind these verdicts. It has never moved a score, and the cheap option beats the expensive one often enough to prove it.
Corrections
Prices, warranty terms and even materials change between production runs, so each figure carries the date it was read. If a spec here no longer matches the brand's own page, say what you are seeing and it gets checked and fixed. A correction with a source goes to the front of the queue.
